- Church of Ireland, Swords, Co. Dublin -

My Ireland Tour is chronological, so this church is the first site I visited about 20 minutes after arriving in Dublin. It's in Swords, a suburb of Dublin. I really know nothing about this church, but will hazzard a guess that it's old, probably dating from the 16th or 17th century. I do know that the round tower was used for defense - when invaders would come, all valuables were moved from the church into the round tower, and boiling water, etc. could be tossed onto the invaders from the "murder hole" at the top (information source revealed on next page!).
